Because of the coronavirus pandemic measures we find ourselves in troubling times never before experienced. We have temporarily suspended meetings at the church in an attempt to help slow the progression of this disease.
We are all experiencing a number of firsts. In the 19 years since Light On A Hill Church began this is the first time the church has ever been closed on a Sunday. This is also the first time we have delivered a Sunday sermon only via a recording.
This week Pastor Tommy offers some thoughts on how we as Christians can navigate our way through these uncharted territories and how we can find peace in troubled times.
Below is the outline of the message for you to follow along.
Finding Peace In Troubled Times
I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid. John 14:27
Whenever we are faced with any calamity such as war, plague, or famine, we can come to stand in your presence before this Temple where your name is honored. We can cry out to you to save us, and you will hear us and rescue us. 2 Chronicles 20:9
…We do not know what to do, but we are looking to you for help. 2 Chronicles 20:12
2. Control Your Mind
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7
You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Isaiah 26:3
3. Count Your Blessings
All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ. Ephesians 1:3
4. Claim Your Promises
But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you. Psalm 56:3
See, God has come to save me. I will trust in him and not be afraid. Isaiah 12:2
