As we prepare to receive communion this week we look at a Jewish wedding at the time of Jesus and see what lessons we can learn and apply to communion.
#1 God Has Chosen Us.
Ephesians 1:4 Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.
#2 We Were Purchased With A Price
1 Corinthians 6:20 …God bought you with a high price.
#3 The Passover Cup Is the Sign of the New Covenant.
Luke 22:20 After supper he took another cup of wine and said, “This cup is the new covenant between God and his people—an agreement confirmed with my blood, which is poured out as a sacrifice for you.
#4 Jesus Has Gone To Prepare A Place For Us
John 14:2 There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?
#5 Only The Father Knows When Jesus Will Return.
Matthew 24:36 However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows.
#6 The Sounding Of The Trumpet Signals The Father’s Approval For the Son To Return.
Matthew 24:30-31 …And they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he will send out his angels with the mighty blast of a trumpet, and they will gather his chosen ones from all over the world—from the farthest ends of the earth and heaven.
1 Corinthians 15:52 It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed.
#7 The Marriage Supper Begins
Revelation 19:9 Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb.
