{"id":8629,"date":"2023-07-02T10:30:00","date_gmt":"2023-07-02T15:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/loah.org\/marsd\/?post_type=ctc_sermon&#038;p=8629"},"modified":"2023-07-07T17:58:13","modified_gmt":"2023-07-07T22:58:13","slug":"freedom-in-christ","status":"publish","type":"ctc_sermon","link":"https:\/\/loah.org\/marsd\/sermons\/freedom-in-christ\/","title":{"rendered":"Freedom In Christ"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>5&nbsp;It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.&nbsp;Stand firm,&nbsp;then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. 2&nbsp;Mark my words! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised,&nbsp;Christ will be of no value to you at all.&nbsp;3&nbsp;Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law.&nbsp;4&nbsp;You who are trying to be justified by the law&nbsp;have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace.&nbsp;5&nbsp;For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for which we hope.&nbsp;6&nbsp;For in Christ Jesus&nbsp;neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value.&nbsp;The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. 7&nbsp;You were running a good race.&nbsp;Who cut in on you&nbsp;to keep you from obeying the truth?&nbsp;8&nbsp;That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you.&nbsp;9&nbsp;\u201cA little yeast works through the whole batch of dough.\u201d&nbsp;10&nbsp;I am confident&nbsp;in the Lord that you will take no other view.&nbsp;The one who is throwing you into confusion,&nbsp;whoever that may be, will have to pay the penalty.&nbsp;11&nbsp;Brothers and sisters, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still being persecuted?&nbsp;In that case the offense&nbsp;of the cross has been abolished.&nbsp;12&nbsp;As for those agitators,&nbsp;I wish they would go the whole way and emasculate themselves! 13&nbsp;You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free.&nbsp;But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh;&nbsp;rather, serve one another&nbsp;humbly in love.&nbsp;14&nbsp;For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: \u201cLove your neighbor as yourself.\u201d &nbsp;15&nbsp;If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.<\/em>&nbsp;&nbsp; Galatians 5:1-15<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong>We Must Stand Firm in Christ<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>10&nbsp;Finally, be strong in the Lord&nbsp;and in his mighty power.&nbsp;11&nbsp;Put on the full armor of God,&nbsp;so that you can take your stand against the devil\u2019s schemes.&nbsp;12&nbsp;For our struggle is not against flesh and blood,&nbsp;but against the rulers, against the authorities,&nbsp;against the powers&nbsp;of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.&nbsp;13&nbsp;Therefore put on the full armor of God,&nbsp;so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.&nbsp;14&nbsp;Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist,&nbsp;with the breastplate of righteousness in place,&nbsp;15&nbsp;and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.&nbsp;16&nbsp;In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith,&nbsp;with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.&nbsp;17&nbsp;Take the helmet of salvation&nbsp;and the sword of the Spirit,&nbsp;which is the word of God.<\/em>&nbsp;&nbsp; Ephesians 6:10-17<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong>Don\u2019t Go Back<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>11 As a dog returns to its vomit, so fools repeat their folly.<\/em>&nbsp;&nbsp; Proverbs 26:11<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>13&nbsp;When you were dead in your sins&nbsp;and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you&nbsp;alive&nbsp;with Christ.
