We continue with week three of our Christmas Series. This week, Pastor Tommy focuses on the interconnectedness of Christmas and Easter. The birth of Christ, symbolized by the Christmas tree, is inseparable from His purpose of dying on the cross. It was his birth that led to his sacrificial death and resurrection. The cross validates the Christmas tree. The two cannot be separated.
Can’t Have the Cross Without the Christmas Tree
But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children. And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.” Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir. Galatians 4:4-7
Can’t Have The Christmas Tree Without The Cross
For if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ has not been raised either. And if Christ has not been raised, then all our preaching is useless, and your faith is useless. 1 Corinthians 15:13-14
This is a trustworthy saying, and everyone should accept it: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners”—and I am the worst of them all. But God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners. Then others will realize that they, too, can believe in him and receive eternal life. 1 Timothy 1:15-16
