LEFTOVERS

First is best! We need to give God the first and best in all areas of our life.

  1. Giving God the First Part of the Day: We must prioritize God amidst a busy schedule; putting God first sets the tone for the day.
  2. Giving God the First Part of the Week (Sunday Worship): It is important we attend church on Sundays.  Sunday is the first day of the week.
  3. Giving God the First Part of Wealth (Tithing): We are to honor God with the first fruits of our wealth. Tithing is a way to acknowledge God’s blessings, avoid falling into the trap of materialism, and prepare to receive God’s promises of blessings.

First Part of the Day

Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray.   Mark 1:35

First Part of the Week

And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.   Hebrews 10:25

On the first day of the week, we gathered with the local believers to share in the Lord’s Supper. Paul was preaching to them, and since he was leaving the next day, he kept talking until midnight.   Acts 20:7

Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.   Ephesians 4:11-13

First Part of Our Wealth

Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine.   Proverbs 3:9-10

The Lord your God will soon bring you into the land he swore to give you when he made a vow to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. It is a land with large, prosperous cities that you did not build. The houses will be richly stocked with goods you did not produce. You will draw water from cisterns you did not dig, and you will eat from vineyards and olive trees you did not plant. When you have eaten your fill in this land, be careful not to forget the Lord, who rescued you from slavery in the land of Egypt.   Deuteronomy 6:10-12

The blessing of the Lord — it makes [truly] rich, and He adds no sorrow with it [neither does toiling increase it].   Proverbs 10:22 (Amplified)

Sell your possessions and give to those in need. This will store up treasure for you in heaven! And the purses of heaven never get old or develop holes. Your treasure will be safe; no thief can steal it and no moth can destroy it. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.   Luke 12:33-34

Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. 10 Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine.   Proverbs 3:9-10
