Another Jesus

Another Jesus

This week, Pastor Tommy Sprinkle looks at the portrayal of Jesus in contemporary churches and the potential distortion of His true essence. Too many churches have strayed from authentic biblical teachings due to misconceptions about the real Jesus.

In 2 Corinthians 11:4, the Apostle Paul warns against preaching “another Jesus,” implying that some churches promote a version of Jesus that contradicts the Bible’s portrayal. Pastor Tommy emphasizes the simplicity of Jesus’ message and expresses concern about churches veering towards more intricate and potentially misleading doctrines.  Satan often disguises himself as an angel of light, deceiving individuals with false teachings and misguided interpretations. Christians need to remain steadfast in the teachings they have received and to be cautious about impostors who may lead them astray.

We must focus on the genuine Jesus, particularly by engaging with the Bible, to gain a better understanding of His true nature and to discern between authentic teachings and counterfeit versions. Any other Jesus will leave us empty and wanting.

But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted—you may well put up with it!   2 Corinthians 11:4-5

And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.   2 Corinthians 11:14

You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.   Psalm 56:8

But evil people and impostors will flourish. They will deceive others and will themselves be deceived.   2 Timothy 3:13

But you must remain faithful to the things you have been taught. You know they are true, for you know you can trust those who taught you.   2 Timothy 3:14

When I first came to you, dear brothers and sisters, I didn’t use lofty words and impressive wisdom to tell you God’s secret plan. For I decided that while I was with you I would forget everything except Jesus Christ, the one who was crucified.   1 Corinthians 2:1-2

I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.   2 Timothy 1:12b
