Memorial Day is about remembering those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. Pentecost is about Jesus sending the Holy Spirit to empower the church to accomplish its mission. As Americans, we need to ask ourselves what we will do in response to the sacrifice of others for our freedom. It is not enough for the church to just remember that Jesus died and rose again. We need to ask ourselves, What will I do because Jesus gave the ultimate sacrifice for our sins?
But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you. John 14:26
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere… Acts 1:8
